This extraordinary medical specimen has several stunning features. This skull shows synostotic posterior plagiocephaly, which is a condition characterized by asymmetrical distortion of the skull. It is quite a severe case of plagiocephaly, and is most obvious when looking at the skull from the top-down. Additionally, this skull has several wormian bones, also known as intrasutural bones, which are quite uncommon. This piece features a cut calvarium, which is secured with pins and hooks, and an articulated mandible on springs. The orbits are extremely well-preserved, with some light damage present. All of the dentition is present, aside from two missing teeth. This spectacular, high-grade medical specimen would be an impressive addition to any collection.
