This extraordinary skull features a large osteoma, a slow-growing tumor, on the frontal bone, just above the right zygomatic bone. The calvarium is uncut, and the mandible is unarticulated. The orbits and nasal cavity are extremely well-preserved. Roughly half of the dentition is missing; some of which was lost ante-mortem and some post-mortem. The bone is extremely dense throughout, which gives this piece a very hefty weight. A specimen like this is incredibly rare, given the size of the osteoma. This piece would make a phenomenal addition to any medical collection, and is quite impressive.
