An impressive vintage medical teaching specimen constructed from genuine human skeletal material, displaying the anatomy of the pelvis, lower lumbar spine, and proximal femora. The preparation consists of a real human pelvis with sacrum and lower lumbar vertebrae, together with portions of both femora. Applied anatomical material recreates many of the ligaments and connective structures of the pelvis, illustrating the relationships between the bones and the structures responsible for stabilizing the pelvic and hip joints. Preparations of this type were produced for medical education and anatomical study, allowing students to examine skeletal anatomy while simultaneously visualizing important soft-tissue attachments that are normally absent from a prepared skeleton. This specimen is mounted on its original brass support and turned wooden display base, allowing it to be studied from all sides. This especially unusual and stunning piece is in excellent condition, and would be perfect for anatomical study and display.
