This stunning human skull has a bold appearance, and exhibits a healed trauma at the top of the right parietal bone (see photo 4). Based on the size and shape of the injury, it could possibly be a healed trepanation, though it could also be an accidental injury. Since the healing is quite advanced, it is difficult to say with certainty what caused it. Another unique and interesting feature of this skull is the labeling on the left side, found on the calvarium, temporal bone, and mandible. It reads, "59 H 1965." The '59' is most likely a reference to the age of the individual, and '1965' is likely the year of death. This medical specimen is in amazing condition. The calvarium is cut and secured with pins, while the mandible is unarticulated. This wonderful specimen is quite spectacular, and would make an intriguing addition to any collection.
