A remarkable one-of-a-kind Bowie knife by American bladesmith Nicholas M. Bachtel, featuring an exceptionally unique handle fashioned from a genuine human femur. The substantial hand-finished steel blade follows the classic Bowie tradition, with a pronounced clip-point profile and long false edge, complemented by a copper cross guard and fittings. The blade bears Bachtel's “NMB” maker's stamp. Most distinctive is the handle, which was created from a section of human femur obtained from a retired medical specimen. The natural surface and coloration of the bone have been retained, preserving the character of the original material. Nicholas M. Bachtel is an American bladesmith known for individually hand-forged knives inspired by historic American and European forms. His work has been featured by BLADE Magazine and Filson. The knife is accompanied by its original handmade fitted leather sheath and the custom display stand shown.
