The 'Damaru' is a sacred two-sided drum that is used in both Hindu and Buddhist tantric rituals. In Hinduism, this drum is known as the instrument of Shiva, used to produce spiritual sounds through which the universe was created.

This Damaru is made from the calvariums of two human skulls, and features an expertly crafted metal inlaid design on both sides. The ends of the drum are covered in skin, though it is uncertain what type of skin was used. This rare and fascinating piece is completely functional, and would be a spectacular addition to any collection.
